Sen. Lesser, Bruins Mascot Read to Children at East Longmeadow Library
EAST LONGMEADOW — Senator Eric P. Lesser joined Bruins mascot “Blades” at East Longmeadow Library on Friday for the Bruins’ “When You Read, You Score!” program to encourage reading during the summer.
“The story we read was about teamwork, and how you have to work together to get ahead. The Bruins would have never made it to the Stanley Cup if they didn't work together. A good lesson for sports, life, and politics!” said Sen. Lesser, who chairs the Senate’s Library Caucus, which advocates for funding for our local libraries.
The Boston Bruins have partnered with the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and the Massachusetts Library System since the summer of 2009, to present “When You Read, You Score!” The summer reading program encourages children and teens to read over the summer months so they can maintain skills they’ve learned over the previous academic year.
This is Sen. Lesser’s second time being a guest reader with the program.
