Sen. Lesser Puts Hampden Maple Syrup on the Line for Bet with North Carolina State Senator Over Bruins Playoff Game
HAMPDEN — Senator Eric P. Lesser is betting some “Perfectly Pure” maple syrup from the family-owned Ferrindino Maple in Hampden that the Bruins will beat the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference finals and advance to the Stanley Cup Final.
He has entered the bet with State Senator Wiley Nickel of Cary, N.C., who is wagering Videri Chocolate from the Raleigh-based Videri Chocolate Factory.
“It’s a great time to be alive in the state of Champions,” said Sen. Lesser. “I thank Senator Nickel and his Hurricanes for giving the Bruins a good tuneup before they move on to the Stanley Cup Final.”
Sen. Lesser, who is the co-chair of the Legislature’s Food Policy Caucus, visited Ferrindino Maple in March to kick off Maple Month. Massachusetts is the ninth largest maple producing state in the country.
The two state senators know each other from their days serving in the Obama White House, where Sen. Lesser was Special Assistant to Senior Adviser David Axelrod and Sen. Nickel traveled the country as a member of the President’s National Advance Staff.
