Sen. Lesser Votes to Pass Funding for Road and Bridge Projects Across the State

BOSTON — Senator Eric P. Lesser voted with the Senate on Tuesday night to authorize $200 million in Fiscal Year 2020 infrastructure funds to rebuild roads and bridges across the state. The funds are distributed under Chapter 90.

“This funding is critical to rebuilding the roads and bridges in need of repair in all of our communities. Everyone knows there are potholes that need to be filled, and these funds will help us do that,” said Sen. Lesser.

Chapter 90 funds are allocated using a longstanding formula based on community road miles, population and employment.  The bill will now move to the House of Representatives for enactment before returning to the Senate for final approval and then sent to the Governor for his signature.

Under the apportionment guidelines, the communities in Sen. Lesser’s district will receive the following amounts:

  • Belchertown: $625,916

  • Chicopee: $1,341,188

  • East Longmeadow: $581,336

  • Granby: $277,958

  • Hampden: $256,649

  • Longmeadow: $478,362

  • Springfield: $3,660,179

  • Wilbraham: $548,843
