Sen. Lesser, Rep. Petrolati Welcome State Financing to Help Build Water Infrastructure Project in Chicopee
CHICOPEE — Senator Eric P. Lesser and Representative Thomas M. Petrolati praised the announcement by the Massachusetts Clean Water Trust that Chicopee has qualified for a loan forgiveness program to help it finance a water infrastructure project.
The Massachusetts Clean Water Trust provides loans to communities to assist them in building vital infrastructure projects. The loan interest rates are below market rates. The Trust also offers construction financing at 0% interest and with no fees.
This will enable Chicopee to finance the construction of the Bluebird Acres Sewer Pump Station and Force Main, expanding water treatment services to a community that has struggled with a failing septic system.
“This is a good example of state and local partnership, where state programs can really help local communities make needed infrastructure improvements. This is great news for Chicopee, and I look forward to seeing this project completed,” said Sen. Lesser.
"The partnering of the City of Chicopee and The MA Clean Water Trust is excellent news! The Bluebird Acre's residents can now rest assured that their quality of life will be greatly improved,” said Rep. Petrolati.
