Sen. Lesser Cheers Grant Award to Phoenix Fruit Farm in Belchertown
BELCHERTOWN — Senator Eric P. Lesser cheered news this week that Phoenix Fruit Farm in Belchertown has been awarded a $59,200 grant through the state’s Agricultural Climate Resiliency & Efficiencies (ACRE) Program.
The program funds materials and labor to help implement innovative projects that address the agricultural sector’s vulnerability to climate change and improve its economic competitiveness.
Phoenix Fruit Farm will use the grant funds to upgrade food safety in their produce washing facility.
“Our local farms are an essential part of our regional and statewide economy, and it is vital that we work to support our farmers and help them continue to innovate. Phoenix Fruit Farm is a mainstay in our community, and I’m glad they are receiving this support,” said Sen. Lesser, who serves as Co-Chair of the Legislature’s Food System Caucus.
