Funding for Memorial Park Playground Secured in FY16 Senate Budget

An amendment proposed by Senator Eric P. Lesser that fills a $16,000 funding gap for construction of a new playground in Hampden’s Memorial Park has been adopted by the Massachusetts Senate. "As the parent of a young child, I spend a lot of time at playgrounds. I know first hand how important this new playground will be for the families of Hampden and for the broader quality of life in our community."

The funding secured by the amendment will help ensure the new playground is ADA-compliant, assist in excavation, and help build a retaining wall.

Passed in the Senate budget, the proposal will now go to a conference committee and, if approved, to Governor Baker for his signature.
