Sen. Eric P. Lesser Appointed to New Senate “Kids First” Initiative
Sen. Eric P. Lesser was appointed to serve on a new Senate-led, multi-year initiative to identify and support innovative strategies to invest in Massachusetts children. “As a young parent, I constantly ask myself how I can best help my child grow into a healthy, resilient and productive adult,” Sen. Lesser said. “The ‘Kids First’ initiative tackles the same questions on a statewide level, using an interdisciplinary approach that will help the Senate make smart policies and investments for our kids’ futures.”
The “Kids First” initiative, which includes nine Senate members and is led by Sen. Sal DiDomenico, and will examine a wide variety of policy areas related to supporting children, including education, nutrition, public health, housing and workforce development. The first phase of the initiative will focus on early childhood development from pre-natal through the fourth grade.
The group held its first meeting February 3 and will be unveiling issues for the Senate to consider for the upcoming legislative session.
